Pakistan faces some of the most severe and recurring natural disasters in the world, including earthquakes, droughts, floods, windstorms and landslides. These calamities have caused widespread destruction, loss of human lives, massive displacement and long-term socioeconomic setbacks. The 2005 earthquake alone claimed more than 73,000 lives, injured over 80,000 people and displaced nearly 3 million individuals. Likewise, the 2010 mega-floods were among the worst in the country’s history, damaging or destroying the homes of more than 2 million people and affecting millions more, with approximately 2,000 casualties recorded.
In every such national emergency, Jamiat Sanabil Ul Khair has been at the forefront of humanitarian response, providing clean drinking water, cooked meals, ration supplies, sanitation and hygiene support, medical assistance, emergency funds and temporary shelter including tents and help in house reconstruction. The organization has always prioritized reaching the most vulnerable families with timely and life-saving aid.
In Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Jamiat Sanabil Ul Khair selected three severely affected villages for complete rehabilitation, where a total of 370 houses were constructed. Mosques and Islamic educational institutions were rebuilt for local communities, while iron sheets for home reconstruction and warm blankets were distributed to 5,000 families to help them survive harsh weather conditions.
The 2015 floods once again displaced thousands, destroying homes, crops and livelihoods across Pakistan. Similarly, the record-breaking floods of 2025, caused by heavy rainfall and the mass release of water from Indian dams, inflicted damages exceeding 8 billion dollars, destroyed livestock and properties, and took more than 1,500 lives. Despite the scale of devastation, Jamiat Sanabil Ul Khair continues to stand firmly with the affected communities. The organization is actively providing tents for shelter, cooked food for displaced families, essential ration supplies, and emergency financial assistance to help people rebuild their lives.
